THIS IS OUR WHY
& COMMITMENT

Kevin once witnessed a boy huddled in a corner in tears after his PSLE, saying: “My life is over”. He thought ‘No 12 year old should feel this way because of a few letters’. Ironically, Kevin once felt that way after academic setbacks. Overcoming it ignited a passion and purpose for youth development, especially in mindset, resilience & mental health.

In years of training, Kevin recognized prevalent stressors faced by youth, and its serious implications on mental health. Once, he attended a talk where people with disabilities (PWDs) shared the challenges they faced, and how they overcame with grit and courage. A gentleman powerfully shared that PWDs also stands for ‘People with Dreams’. Their stories moved Kevin and sparked an idea to meet 2 social needs – to provide employment opportunities for PWDs to speak, and also inspires students to overcome setbacks and build their resilience. Since Rebound started, we have served over 60 schools & organizations & 10,000+ participants.

We commit to being the leading provider of resilience building and mental wellness education, through the synergy of offline and online content.

We commit to empower every single student to turn “failure” into mastery and pain into power.

We commit to raising the resilience and mental wellness of our nation.

THIS IS WHAT MAKES US DISTINCT &

WHY CLIENTS CHOOSE US

i) Specialized & Contextualized Content

Our programmes are adapted from extensive research, which reveals that cultivating resilience is shaped by both internal (beliefs and mindsets) and external factors (strong communities and the ability to identify and utilize resources for help). Programmes are codified to develop these specific factors and contextualized to specific students’ concerns

ii) Unique & Effective Pedagogy

Narratives, Experiential Learning and Gamification is utilized to motivate and engage students’ kinesthetically, visually and mentally, to ensure maximum retention and application. Authentic storytelling is done through our 1) our self-produced media content featuring local inspirations & 2) through our trainers’ vulnerability and stories. Purposefully designed games and discussion are also used to engage and help students assimilate meaning from abstract concepts.

iii) Online Resources For Continued Learning

A major differentiation is our passion and creation of online resources for continued learning. Being student-centered, we commit to creating content that inspires and appeals to youth. This ensures a much higher rate of retention and addresses a major gap in the enrichment industry- the lack of continuity.

Our Programmes & What Teachers/Students Say

i) Resilience Retold

Resilience Retold refers to inspirational assembly talks delivered by Kevin and/or our speakers with disabilities. From our research with over 600 students, students are generally aware of what resilience means, yet find difficulty demonstrating it, due to demoralization and lack of belief in their ability. The assembly talks are designed to employ storytelling to inspire attitude changes. This also frames their mind for follow-up programmes.

“Mr Zahier‘s story has truly inspired many students to belief in oneself and to strive beyond their current ability. Seeing and listening to his stories have convinced our students of the importance of bouncing back from setbacks and moving on to chase their dreams. A truly role model for the younger generations!”

— Mdm Celine Tan Kay Bin, VP, Hua Yi Secondary

ii) Rise with Resilience

Rise with Resilience is a comprehensive modular classroom training programme, with each module designed to cultivate a specific factor in resilience (perspective to failure, self-esteem, self-efficacy and social support)

The objective is to raise students’ understanding of resilience and its value, and empower them with specific habits to cultivate resilience. The training is highly experiential, with games and personal/group discussions to engage and impact students at a personal level.

“Resilience as a concept is difficult to teach, hence hardly offered as an enrichment course. Yet, I was impressed at how the experiential programme was conceptualized in an engaging and meaningful way, and conducted at such a scale.

— Mr He Jun Hao, Head of CCE, St. Anthony’s Canossian Secondary School

“It was relatable and I can really apply it to my daily life. This has allowed me to have a more positive outlook on life in general.”

— Student from Saint Anthony's Cannosians Secondary School

iii) Productivity and Time Management

A big part of schooling life is striking the balance between productivity (study) and mental health. The modular course breaks down key principles of purposeful lasting productivity without compromising mental health.

Modules:

  1. Purpose (Clarifying the why and finding inspiration)

  2. Priority (Prioritizing broad responsibilities and life segments)

  3. Planning (Learning to schedule and work on a calender)

  4. Performance (Learning to optimize your body and mind through mental health and resilience mindsets and tips)

iii) Resilient Bonds

Personal resilience rises when collective resilience increases. This modular workshop focuses on cultivating resilient and inclusive classes & communities, through 3 modules. They are:

  1. Reserving Judgement (Developing Empathy and Inclusiveness)

  2. Resolving Conflict (Conflict Management & Effective Team Communication)

  3. Rendering Support (Mental Health Awareness & Peer Support Strategies)

“I liked the activities a lot because they helped me understand empathy better and what my friends and I were going through.”

- Student from Riverside Secondary School

I love the activity and focus on mental health, it reveals our issues and how we should support and understand our friends feelings. It was eye opening to see the negative experiences that my classmates have. This activity/session really benefited me a lot today.
